LACE-TASTIC

It's official, I'm in love with lace! I can't wait to wear the lace tunic I bought Forever 21. Can't wait to wear it out with black leggings and sandals, or black tights with my red velvets :D

ATTENTION TO DETAIL

Enjoying a lazy day in easy, breezy layers. I love my fake Van Cleef & Arpels necklace so much, I wish I had $5,000 to buy one.. I don't feel bad about my $15 version I bought in NYC a couple of summers ago. I love my 'Princess' Juicy Couture earrings (crown setting and backing), too bad I lost one of them later that day :( Very, very upsetting.. My boyfriend bought them for me.

I WANT THESE :)

The light blue, mint colour brings out the fabulousness of these sandals.. That's the whole reason -I want them :) The black are great, and I can see and feel the chic cut-out pattern, and I WILL regret it later.. Probably regret that I didn't just pay the bill for both earlier. That's when it struck me, I want the blue one's no matter what! I look at them again and realize the mint ones are tres chic! They boldly celebrate Calvin Klein's unique understated CHIC. The black looks good, but don't have the same wow factor this time.

NEW YORK STATE OF MIND

It's official my bestie Meghan and I and are going to NYC this summer!! She hasn't been yet, I can't wait to go with her! We're going in July for 2-3 days, it's going to be incredible. We have very similar wants, needs, and taste, so for discovering a big city in a small amount of time, we're going to be ruthless little fashionista's, only planning on doing whatever we want to do.
I can't wait! 12 weeks and counting..

BRIDESMAID TO BE

I'm getting ready for Norma's wedding! Got the follow up message with dress details :) I LOVE the bridesmaid dress she picked out. It's a beach wedding in August so I feel the dress will flow and accent the special late Summer wedding.
I don't usually wear brown so need to figure out what I like to wear with it.. It's on a beach and I can wear sandals! I'm already taller than everyone I know so flats make me comfortable.
So excited to accessorized the dress, my first thoughts were accents colours, and I love mixing neutrals, a lot of my sweater sets are grey and taupe, camel tones.

JUST ANOTHER FUN FRIDAY

Thursday morning I noticed they were removing the Viva Glam kisses (Cyndi Lauper's and Lady Gaga's). Friday morning it's Pret A Papier!

I treated myself to a Venti Earl Grey and Vanilla cupcake.
I had the company event at the end of the day, so this was my energy drink.
Or maybe it was that Caesar at lunch.. hmm

At lunch I was about buying cups for the party, but also saw this tunic, and had a store credit :D

These sandals are amazing. They are Calvin Klein :D And they are FABULOUS. They also come in black but this soft blue grey/minty shade is something that makes me feel I have Calvin Klein's sandals on.. Spring Summer 2010 collection.. J'adore.

Before cleaning up I took my bow. fun times :)

AN INSANE DAY TODAY

Well today was pretty freakin' epic in my world. My work day was nuts, received approval on a company project after lunch and with some amazing team work and camaraderie, organized an event for tomorrow! After the dust settled and I was shutting down getting ready to meet with my school study group, I received some (I have to say it again I'm that happy) insane messages from some close friends. One is so top secret I can't note it until after it happens (coming up soon) I can't risk anyone knowing :D it's good news though. The second email was from my dear friend Norma. I have known Norma since I was 15 years old, maybe longer. We figure skated together. We were great friends, we still are :) After challenging each other on the ice, we had just as much fun off. God, I could probably ride a book about the funny shit we used to say or do. Today Norma asked me to be a bridesmaid!!! I am totally freakin' out. SO honored to stand f or her on her BIG day.
So I have had a lot of excitement at this point. Oh wait. It's my colleague/friend Connie bringing me a fun presentation chickadvisor.com - which I'm totally diggin'. The woman who created the site (co-founded w husband) is totally living my dream.. After our meeting I was thanking Connie for the Demi Moore Harper's Bazaar she dropped off last time, she pulled Gwyneth Paltrow!! I know some amazing people.
I also received a few goodies from chickadvisor :) Lancome Face Primer and Mary Kay Lash. I'm addicted to L'oreal Voluminous right now, I definitely promise C.A. that I will definitely participate in their product feedback community.
Cool stuff happening.
So after all that and hours of hard successful, fun study group time, my new friend Coralie and I had a quick drink at a classy restaurant across the street from the office. I think it should be a weekly thang.

Last night my bf and I checked out a few of our favourite bands; The XX (first pic), and Hot Chip (last 2 pics). It was such an awesome night too bad it was a Tuesday.. Had to keep myself in check. Had so many fun friends there I was on the verge of some Saturday Night Fever.

ANDROGYNY GIRL

As girlie as I am, I prefer the androgynous vibe the most. Strong colours, cuts, and shapes. I'm having a moment of self discovery, just recently declaring 'I am only wear Givenchy's HOT couture fragrance for life!' just a post prior haha.. But seriously I am falling madly in love with the House of Givenchy, I relate to and believe in the houses vision. Both look and smell :)

MY SIGNATURE SCENT

In the most recent HELLO! gift bag, there was this small sample of Givenchy HOT Couture. My bf had received it and passed it along :D It instantly brought me back to my days working at Shoppers Drug Mart. At the time I was obsessed with Chanel Chance, and Mademoiselle that I didn't abuse the Givenchy as much as I sold it. I have been using it for months, and I LOVE it. It's an amazing fragrance that makes me smile when I put it on. Even though this sample is only an eau de toilette it carries like a parfum. I had to post about this because what I have is getting very low, and I love it so much I'm definitely going to invest in a bottle when I'm done. I'm definitely claiming it my signature scent :) I think we will be very happy together until death do us part. ha

MY CURRENT OBSESSIONS

Well I have fallen madly in love with my new Gaga lipstick (as I like to call it). The candy like lilac/lavender is a great colour for me. After doing a little reading, I had a vision.. Lavender nail polish!!! to go with :D It may be a little matchy-matchy, but I think I can figure it out. See amazing summer accessories below.. And Lavender would be in rotation with my other colours, I'm still obsessed with Lincoln Park After Dark. But Lucky Lucky Lavender will make for a fun statement every now and again.. Ah discovery.



As I think about the summer approaching, I'm feeling the need to ensure I have the best basics on hand for my professional life, my weekend life, my special occasions life, etc. I'm planning on traveling 2-3 times this year so I have to be practical.. Bluefly.com is awesome, but shipping isn't worth it. Especially when 1 of my trips might be back to NYC :D I believe in fate.
I have been doing a lot of researching and hunting, with know what I'm obsessed with this year; wedge/slingback sandals, bucket bags, and small cross body bags.

ARE YOU DOING YOUR PART?

MAC's Viva Glam has launched its annual limited edition products that support their MAC AIDS FUND. This years spoke person's Cyndi Lauper and Lady Gaga were chosen. I instantly feel in love with Gaga's candy coloured lipstick and had to support such a great cause! I picked up the lipstick when I was in my favourite Toronto neighbourhood (Yorkville) that is currently under major construction - I had to walk a plank to get in to the MAC store!! It was definitely worth it. Besides, contributing to the AIDS initiative, I felt good supporting a store that might be having a hard time maintaining their foot traffic. I'm so nice :P

SUMMER LOVE: BOYFRIEND JEANS

Screw fabric capri pants, boyfriend jeans are the sexy pant of summer. Now I just need/want a pair of loafers to wear with. I love the pair I found at H&M, they have subtle splashes of silver shimmer all over the pants, which make them feel slightly more girlie, and special to me.

ANDY SAID...

Andy Warhol coined the phrase "15 minutes of fame" which I thought was cool to note after my little stint in the local newspaper I'm so happy about. It did feel like my 15 minutes :D
When I was shopping at the AGO I was deciding between the 'Gun' print and "Everybody should like Everybody" - a statement I live and breath everyday. BUT 'Gun' provided more artistic emotion for me.

FEELING IT

In the AGO shop I found a bunch of great Andy Warhol prints. I bought 'Gun' from Andy's Guns series. I love this print so much. The multiple revolvers are very intimidating, while the variety of colours provide me with a feeling of safety, even fun... I had to own this print, the fact it makes can make me feel two different ways is just amazing. Genius.



Afterwards the mission was relaxing in the sun, and enjoying the mild spring weather.

WALK LIKE AN EGYPTIAN

Today I went to the AGO and saw ancient Egyptian artifacts that were over 3,000 years old! From statues, to coffinettes, the earrings were also awesome to see. It was a great exhibition, I enjoyed every minute of it, I have been interested in Egyptian culture and religion since I was in elementary school. Pyramids were my sixth grade science fair project :D Don't even get me started on hyroglifics, I learned about them in middle school, and almost tattooed some symbols but decided on a tribal sun.. which lives on my calf.
I'm just SO happy to have finally checked it out, once the exhibition is closed, the artifacts are headed back to Egypt indefinitely!

I'M IN THE NOW!

When I moved to Toronto I quickly learned that, NOW was my friend. This sexy newspaper that calls itself a magazine, is the bible for music lovers. It's been my weekly companion for years, and I was thrilled to be approached at the show, and asked for my feedback.. Never thought it would be a sexy little alien feature. My five seconds of fame is fun! And so proud it's in NOW :)

A UNIFORM CAN DEFINE YOU

It's always been a great discussion why designers tend to have uniforms when they are designing new collections all the time. Shouldn't they reflect what the brand offers? I remember Karl Lagerfeld's explanation of remaining the constant, and letting his work speak for him and his brands. Also recently Kelly Cutrone had some great insight about people feeling more secure doing business with you, when they know exactly who and what they are getting. It's becoming very clear to me, that your personal uniform defines you.
My uniform consists of; Denim (always), skinny jeans for work, boyfriend for play, unique flats, bucket or hobo style bag, and shirts I wear unique to simple styles - I decide based on my mood.

THE BRAND GIVES YOU POWER

I'm reading Kelly Cutrone's book, If You Have To Cry, Go Outside. The book has been great, Kelly speaks very candidly about her ups and downs trying to make it in the big city. Her experiences provide her the insight to offer great advice. My favorite part of the book so far has been her chapter on self-branding. Kelly realized that clients felt really comfortable knowing exactly what they were getting, and for her, a solid black exterior with a warm and brutally honest interior is what they paid for. This really caught my attention. Got me thinking about my brand, and what I want to remain constant becoming the heart of MY brand..
